How to Sponsor A Red

Reds
Reds are 15% of the population. They are money-motivated, money-focused.
Don't bother talking to them about your family or your vacation. They don't
care.

They know if you get married, you're supposed to have kids. If you have kids,
you're supposed to go on vacation. End of story. Don't want to talk about it.

How To Sponsor A Red

They want to talk about the money, the money, the money.

Reds do well in a stair step breakaway compensation plan, because they think
network marketing is a sales business. For them, it's sell, sell, sell. In a stair
step plan, they can put 5 people on their front line. If only one produces, they
never go back and put somebody underneath them. They're just looking for producers,
somebody who will build, build, build.

The Red knows that once that first productive person in the first group of 5 hits
$50,001 volume, they'll then break away. And the Red's override drops from
15% to 5%, because the other 10% goes to the person who built it.
That's fine for the Red, because they understand their job is to find another Red
and keep getting those 5% retentions. For them, it's a sales business.


Reds are the corporate CEOs, the "get-the-job-done" people, the ones
everyone in network marketing is looking for.

But it's a fallacy. Reds are just 15% of the population, and they are absolutely
not coachable. They have the biggest egos. They order people around. It works
in corporate America, but not in network marketing.
When a Red demands that people get on conference calls, he drives his people
away.

On the other hand, Reds are well-connected. You want to sponsor Reds because
they’ll put you in contact with powerful people. They know business owners,
governors, leaders, etc.

So target Reds. But don't dare think you're going to coach them or mentor them
or tell them what to do, because it's NOT going to happen.
Let them do it themselves. You really have no choice, anyway.

But network marketing is NOT a sales business.
It's a teaching and mentoring business.
That’s what I learned early from Tom "Big Al" Schreiter.

When you find people massively successful in a stair step breakaway type comp
plan, they are the Reds, the salespeople. But with that type plan, retention is very low. If they recruit 100 people in a year, they've got just a handful left by
the end of the year.

But with a Yellow, if they get 100 people in the business, they'll teach & mentor.
They’ll work down deep in the organization and they may have 60 or 70 still active
after a year.

Saddam Hussein Meets Dr. Phil

Everyone is a blend of colors, showing different personality traits at different
times. Now I’ve never met Saddam Hussein, but from what I’ve seen, he seems
a pretty “hard sell” guy to me. Very red. And lesser amounts of analytical, funloving
& caring for people.

Wouldn’t you agree?

My guess would be 75% Red, 12% Green, 8% Blue, 5% Yellow.

So what would happen if Saddam met, say … Dr. Phil?

My guess on Dr. Phil is maybe 40% Yellow, 25% Red, 25% Blue, and 10%
Green.

THAT meeting might make the News at 11.

What’s the point?

Well, as you meet and LISTEN to people, get in the habit of spotting the different
colors in their personalities. Use the clues we talked about. Use the “colors”
technique every day. Make it second nature. I guarantee you’ll be very glad you
did.

Opportunity Has VERY Long Legs

Another observation here is that 85% of the population (Blues, Greens & Yellows)
either work best or work very well with network marketing compensation
plans that pay down deep or to infinity. Reds (15%) are much better with
unilevel (unlimited width) plans.Decide for yourself, but it’s always good to have the percentages as much in your favor as possible. Experts from the Book "Success in 10 Steps".

Ontario, Canada - For 14 years, my wife and I ran a sales & service business for computer software, high-speed scanners, & document management solutions.

I remember thinking when we started that business, "I'll never get caught in that corporate trap. I'll be out there working with people, building relationships." Yet 14 years later, I had turned into exactly what I swore I wouldn't be.

Sell, sell, sell. I wanted something better.

Three years ago, in our first network marketing company, we had NO upline support. Even so, our first 10 months of that business, part-time, we did $25,000 in sales. Not bad for a tiny community. Then the upline noticed. They started telling us how to do the business. We tried their ideas. None of it worked.

A Big Difference: Spotting The Personality

I had a lot of questions about why it was so hard to get a positive response. Michael's Color To Success training taught me that if you just to listen to people, you can determine their personality. And that helps you become a better listener, a better people-person. Just stop for a moment. Let THEM talk.

So while trying to determine the personality, I quit pounding on people. I listened. Within 60 days, we had close to $200,000 in sales contracts!

All I did was go in to see these people to spot their personalities. So what happens? They say, "Well, while you're here, we need this." Or "we want you to do a quote on these products for us." Remarkable. It started falling into place.

Then we applied these principles to network marketing. We've seen our downline grow, and it has not stopped … all because of what Michael teaches. And really, it was lessons forgotten, that you just need to be reminded about.

MLM is about people. It's learning how to talk to people, developing your people skills. To have success, you have to make other people successful.

Michael's Saturday night call is wonderful. It's generic. No company names are mentioned. The principles apply to any business. I've had my manufacturers' sales reps come on those calls. And their sales increase. They have a more positive attitude towards customers. They're more relaxed.

I Count My Blessings Everyday

We're in a small community, about 300 people. But our network is growing larger & larger, reaching places we'd never expect. From northern Ontario, we have reps in England, Australia, and Japan. It spreads more than you'd ever imagine.

I bless the people in my life. And Michael is up there near the top of my list. I've done a lot of personal development. But what Michael teaches has truly helped my vision of what I want from life. It's helped me focus on my goals. I bless Michael. And I bless Scott Thompson for having the persistence to get ahold of me and introduce me to Michael.

I remember my first call with Michael. I thought, "Here we go, they're going to try to sell me SOMETHING!" But nobody tried to sell me anything. Very disarming. It blew me away.

I felt so comfortable. Within a couple weeks on the training calls, I was saying, "I don't care WHAT it is you're into, I don't care which network marketing company you're with, I want to be part of it! I want to grow with you guys, because I can see it happening."

How It Works - And How It Doesn't Work

And that's the reaction we get now from people. You bring someone on the call, follow up and build a relationship. It may be 2 weeks or 6 weeks or 8 weeks. But eventually they say, "I want to work with YOU! Sign me up RIGHT NOW!"

A lady called me yesterday, out of New York. Fantastic person. She called me for her MLM. We talked for an hour and a half. That's a relationship started. I told her, "You know, it's like talking with a long-lost friend." You share your experiences. Let's face it, a lot of people have been unsuccessful in network marketing.

People make it complicated. It's not. Network marketing started back in the '50s as referral marketing. It was easier & less expensive to advertise products by word-of-mouth than running big ad campaigns and getting products into retail stores.

But today, people want to sit at home, watch TV and have the world come to them. They want to click their mouse and get their hundred sign-ups a day. They don't want to be bothered with building relationships.

And then they wonder, "Why isn't this working?" Well, it will NEVER work like that!

There's light years' difference between Michael Dlouhy and everyone else in MLM. I get a call from somebody pitching me on their latest deal, and I almost start laughing at them. I'm thinking, "Man! Are you ever in for some hard knocks!"

There's a lady I've known a few years. She just came in my group. She was in several old-time, big network marketing companies. She really tried to make it work. She's a wonderful people person.

I kept asking her,
"Why can't you make a dollar in this industry?"

And she said, "I don't know. I'm doing everything they tell me. I'm doing it right to the letter."

And so obviously, whatever was really working was not duplicatable.

Her last company, she went in debt for about $10,000. Personally, I don't know how you can let it go that far before you realize it's a losing game. I guess people figure, "Well, this company has done it before, a lot of people have made money, I just need to stick with it and do what they say."

And when it doesn't work, they figure, "I'm a failure."

Now we're taking her through the Saturday night trainings, getting her programmed and re-programmed to develop people skills. She swore she'd never do network marketing again, but she's made so many inroads in the past month. It's phenomenal.

And now she says, "I get it. I get it.
Why didn't this jump out at me before?"

And, of course, she was programmed to do MLM a particular way. The only person making a profit was her sponsor. She was just a sales rep. She wasn't a budding entrepreneur. She wasn't in business for herself. She was just a cash cow for her sponsor.

So she's starting to make money now. Not a lot yet, but she's profitable, and that's important. Plus, you don't have to spend a ton of money to do it this way. Not with Michael's training. There's no sense spending advertising dollars you don't even have when you don't yet know the basics of how to be duplicatable.

She's doing a great job now!
